For lunch (Thur-Sun), we serve a varied menu. In the evening, you can choose between à la carte dishes or a set menu (open every evening). On Saturdays and Sundays, you can enjoy a delicious High Tea between 2 and 4 p.m.
Our bar is the ideal place to relax with a cup of coffee, an aperitif or a refreshing drink overlooking our French garden.
Both hotel guests and non-residents are always welcome at our hospitable tables and bar.

In 2024, Bistro Bureau Bouveau added a new layer for food enthusiasts. You can deeply explore the flavors and atmosphere of the top shelf here. The restaurant offers a varied menu of dishes prepared fresh daily. You can enjoy both lunch and dinner here, and non-hotel guests are also welcome at the table or at the welcoming bar. How could it be any different, on Limburg soil! The bar is open daily from 12 pm and offers tantalizing cocktails as well as light dishes and savory snacks.
The history behind our gastronomy
At Terhills Hotel, the mining past is still palpable enough to taste. And for good reason, because the place where you sit down to eat today was called the Coal Castle in the 1930s. A villa that, despite losing its function when the coal mines closed in 1987, never lost its charm. The neoclassical baroque architecture, the French garden… They have been enchanting visitors for almost a hundred years. While the surrounding site was transformed into the tourist destination Terhills, where everyone can taste the flavor of nature, the former Coal Castle became Terhills Hotel in 2015.

The name and concept of Bistro Bureau Bouveau refer to the contrasting worlds of underground mining life and the magnificent management buildings above it. While the miners toiled hard in the coal seams—known as “bouveau”—the clerks luxuriated in elegant offices above ground. The engineer versus the miner. Light versus dark. Bistro Bureau Bouveau reconciles the two worlds, but also challenges them by placing them side by side. Taste the contrast for yourself during a visit to Terhills or a stay at Terhills Hotel!
